How to Create, Save, and Organize Scenarios

Ready to unlock the power of automation? Dive into our easy-to-follow tutorial from Make Academy and become a pro at creating and organizing your first scenario on Make.com!

Your First Scenario Awaits!

Creating your first scenario with Make.com can feel overwhelming, especially if you’re new to automation. But fear not; this tutorial is designed to guide you every step of the way. Let’s break it down:

Step 1: Access the Scenario Editor

If you’ve been keeping up with us, you should have the scenario editor open. If not, log in to Make.com and select “Create a New Scenario” from the organization, team, or scenarios menu. Easy, right?

Step 2: Rename Your Scenario

By default, your scenario is unnamed. To bring clarity to your work, hover over the “New Scenario” text in the top left corner, delete the default name, and give it a more meaningful title: Make Foundation Use Case.

Step 3: Add the Weather App

Next, it’s time to add some functionality! Click the plus icon to add an app. Type “Weather” in the search box and select the Weather app from the listed options. Now, choose the Get Current Weather action module and enter a city in the location field. Keep an eye out for the general functions window that may pop up – we’ll take a deeper dive into that in our upcoming tutorials!

Step 4: Save Your Changes

Before you move onto the next step, don’t forget to save your work. Click on the “Save Changes” button or the save icon at the bottom of the scenario builder to ensure all your hard work isn’t lost. Pro tip: If you skipped renaming your scenario, it might revert to “Integration Weather.” It’s best to stick with the original name for consistency!

Organizing Like a Pro

You’ve created and saved your first scenario; now it’s time to get organized. Click on the Scenarios menu on the left. Your fresh-out-of-the-oven scenario, “Make Foundation Use Case,” should appear, complete with icons displaying its operations, data transfers, author details, and more!

Creating Folders for Clarity

To kick your organization skills up a notch, let’s create a folder. Click the plus sign below the search bar to create a new folder named Make Academy. Then, move your scenario into this folder by selecting it from the dropdown menu and hitting “Move.” Now, your “Make Foundation Use Case” will be neatly tucked away in the Make Academy folder!
